Sylvan Adams Donates $35 Million to Open TAU Sport Science Institute
Canadian-Israeli billionaire and philanthropist Sylvan Adams donated $35 million, roughly NIS 107 million, to Tel Aviv University to open the Sylvan Adams Sport Science Institute at a Wednesday inauguration on the university campus. The institute will support Israeli athletes preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was developed with TAU's Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and Faculty of Engineering. The facility features an advanced gym, a climate chamber that can simulate the temperature and humidity of competitions around the world, and a hypoxic altitude hotel for training at simulated high altitudes. TAU President Prof. Ariel Porat, Israel Olympic Committee Chair and IOC Member Yael Arad, Olympic Committee CEO Adi Bichman, institute head Prof. Irad Ben-Gal and Adams took part in the opening.
