Israel Urges Citizens to Avoid All Travel to Ethiopia's Tigray Region as Fighting Resumes

Israel's Foreign Ministry on Friday advised Israelis to avoid all travel to Ethiopia's Tigray region until further notice, citing an escalating security situation and renewed armed clashes in the region and nearby areas. The ministry said Ethiopian Airlines has suspended its flights to and from the airports in Mekelle, Axum and Shire, and that it is not known when they will resume. Israelis already in Tigray were told to limit non-essential movement, avoid gatherings, demonstrations and military sites, and not to travel between cities or leave the region independently without first confirming the route is safe. The ministry asked them to update Israel's embassy in Addis Ababa with their location and contact details.
