Kabbalist Rabbi David Batzri Dies at 85 After Collapsing in Bnei Brak

Rabbi David Batzri, head of the HaShalom kabbalist yeshiva in Jerusalem and one of Israel's senior kabbalists, died on Friday, the eve of Sukkot, at Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer. He was 85. He had collapsed suddenly that morning at his home in Bnei Brak, where emergency teams carried out prolonged resuscitation before taking him to Sheba sedated and on a ventilator. Born in Jerusalem in 1941, he studied at the Porat Yosef yeshiva, wrote many books and hosted religious radio programs. He leaves four sons, including Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri. Funeral arrangements were to be announced later.
