Zamir Orders Expert Probe of Gaza Drone Blast as Attack Drones Are Grounded for 48 Hours

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Friday appointed an expert team, headed by a Ground Forces brigadier general, to examine the circumstances of Thursday's explosion that killed Master Sgt. (res.) Nadav Kali and Master Sgt. (res.) Ofek Moalem at a post near Beit Hanoun, in order to prevent similar incidents. The Ground Forces commander halted the use of attack drones for 48 hours as a precaution, with a renewed situation assessment at the end of that period. The drone was an Atalef, a suicide drone in regular IDF use that can reach 130 km/h. In July, a similar drone carrying an explosive charge was found near Kibbutz Nahal Oz.
