A British citizen held in London over an alleged Hamas plot to attack Israelis, Jews and pro-Israel targets in Germany or Austria once served as a bodyguard to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, a British newspaper investigation reported on Saturday. He reportedly claimed asylum in the UK in 2015, received indefinite leave to remain and later became a citizen. Germany's Federal Prosecutor General says a British national arrested in London on November 3, 2025, played a prominent role in the plot, which was timed for the second anniversary of October 7. Mossad and German intelligence reportedly alerted Britain's National Crime Agency. He remains in UK custody facing separate British proceedings.
