Central District prosecutors indicted a Bar-Ilan University mathematics lecturer at the court in Lod on Monday, accusing him of preparing terrorist attacks against Arab civilians. According to the indictment, he drafted plans and tried unsuccessfully to recruit participants for coordinated attacks intended to kill hundreds of people. Charges include preparing a terrorist act, extortion through threats and obstruction of justice; prosecutors requested detention through the proceedings. His name remains under a publication ban, and he requested house arrest while denying he posed a current danger. Bar-Ilan said it would suspend him immediately through the proceedings.
