The IDF announced on October 8 that Capt. Eliav Haim Tzapalamus, a 21-year-old combat officer from Haifa, fell in southern Lebanon. Tzapalamus served in Battalion 603 of Brigade 7, and the announcement of his death was released after his family had been notified. Three other IDF soldiers were lightly injured in the same incident and were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. Their families were also informed, the IDF said in its official statement accompanying the casualty announcement.
