Daniel Meron Condemns Nobel Peace Prize Award to Navi Pillay

Daniel Meron, Israel’s permanent representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, condemned Friday’s Nobel Peace Prize award to Navi Pillay. In an October 9 statement, he called Pillay an agent of anti-Israel propaganda and antisemitism within the UN. He accused her of leading campaigns to undermine Israel’s existence, whitewash terrorism and manipulate reality. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it awarded Pillay the 2026 prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law. Its announcement identifies her as a former chair of the UN commission of inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
