Health Ministry Warns of Rabies Exposure Near Beit Alfa

The Health Ministry warned on October 9 of possible rabies exposure near Kibbutz Beit Alfa after a jackal found beside its fishpond was reported infected on October 8. It said no people were known to have been exposed and an epidemiological investigation was continuing. Anyone whose own contact, or their animal’s contact, involved the jackal or another roaming animal in the area between September 24 and October 7 was asked to urgently seek assessment for preventive treatment at the Afula or nearest health office. After hours and on weekends, the ministry directed them to a hospital emergency department without an appointment.
