IDF Inquiry Finds Ammunition Mishandling Behind Soldiers’ Injuries in Lebanon

A preliminary IDF inquiry reportedly found that two soldiers were lightly wounded in southern Lebanon on October 8 after removing gunpowder from live ammunition as part of a dangerous game. The gunpowder ignited and injured them while they were in an active combat area. The incident had initially been classified as an operational accident, before the inquiry identified the ammunition mishandling. The IDF said it viewed the incident with great severity and warned that disregard of procedures can endanger lives.
