Israel Seeks Dutch Reversal of Ban on Hapoel Be’er Sheva Fans

Israel’s Foreign Ministry says it is seeking permission for Hapoel Be’er Sheva supporters to attend the October 15 Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar contacted his Dutch counterpart, while ministry officials asked the Dutch Foreign Ministry and Alkmaar municipality to allow admission and ensure security inside and around the stadium. Israel’s embassy in The Hague also discussed the issue with police and coordinated with the club and Israel Football Association. AZ announced on September 30 that local authorities had excluded away supporters on public-safety grounds. No reversal has been confirmed.
