Registrar Gives 22,370 Unregistered Partnerships 45 Days to Register

A newly disclosed campaign by Israel’s Corporations Authority has given 22,370 unregistered partnerships 45 days to register. The warning letters threaten sanctions and referral to the Tax Authority, which could examine the businesses’ and partners’ tax payments. Registrar Shuli Avni-Shoham recently obtained information about approximately 26,000 partnerships with VAT files but no entry in her register. She said registration promotes transparency, public protection and fair commerce, and pledged assistance. Lawyer Dr. Omer Nirhod cautioned that unregistered partnerships are not necessarily illegal or unknown to tax authorities, and warned that changing longstanding identification arrangements could disrupt banking, invoices and contracts.
