UAE Adviser Gargash Calls for Renewed Joint Gulf Security and Defense Cooperation

UAE presidential diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash called for reviving joint Gulf action, particularly security and defense cooperation, and strengthening collective security. In an October 12 statement, he said Gulf states were all being targeted and that an attack on Saudi Arabia undermined the security of the UAE and the entire Gulf. He said the aggressor had mistakenly viewed Gulf states as the weakest link in a war they had sought to avoid. Gargash said serious shortcomings in collective security had encouraged attacks, calling Gulf security a shared responsibility that could not tolerate complacency or delay.
