New Zealand Accepts Christchurch Costco Proposal Into Fast-Track Process

New Zealand's government has accepted Costco's proposed Christchurch store into the fast-track approvals process, allowing the retailer to lodge a substantive application. The proposed site lies between Avonhead Road and Memorial Avenue near Christchurch Airport and would house Costco's first South Island store. Minister Tama Potaka approved the referral after an application submitted on August 31 and consultation with invited groups. Officials must check the substantive application's completeness before an independent expert panel assesses it; acceptance into the process is not final development consent.
