Thai Central Bank Deputy Says 3% Growth Is Possible Within Three Years

Bank of Thailand deputy governor Piti Disyatat said on October 14 that Thailand could return to 3% growth within two or three years if it avoids negative shocks and eases structural constraints. Speaking on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank annual meetings, he expected growth of 2.3% or slightly more in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027, with the bank's baseline at 2.8–3% in 2028. He said monetary policy would remain accommodative, with the policy rate at 1.00%. He did not foresee further cuts except potentially after a large shock, with eventual normalization depending on the economy being ready.
