Urso Says Italy Has No Ready-Made Car Plants for Chinese Buyers

Italy's industry minister Adolfo Urso told Parliament that Chinese carmakers seeking European production sites want ready-made factories, but none are available for purchase in Italy. He said Stellantis had not closed its Italian plants and its agreement with the government committed it to keeping factories active and avoiding dismissals. Urso said the company instead aims to fill unused capacity through technological and industrial agreements with Chinese manufacturers while retaining ownership. He cited Cassino as an example and said he had met BYD's European adviser Alfredo Altavilla several times.
