Sheba Director Says AI Systems Will Cut Doctors’ Documentation Work

Sheba Medical Center director Prof. Yitshak Kreiss described artificial-intelligence tools for medical documentation and clinical decision support on October 15. He said a system being implemented at the hospital records doctor-patient conversations, processes the information and enters it into medical records. Kreiss forecast a 50% saving in doctors’ working time, without providing a calculation or measured hospital-wide result for that projection. Speaking at the ITech Israel conference, he identified organizational culture, regulation, cooperation, staff training and ethics as challenges in bringing AI into hospital practice.
