U.S. Retail Sales Rise 0.8% in September

U.S. retail and food-services sales rose 0.8% in September, reaching $745.0 billion, according to advance estimates released by the Census Bureau on October 15. The monthly estimate had a margin of error of 0.4 percentage points in either direction, and sales were 6.3% above September 2025. Gasoline-station sales increased 6.4% from August, while sales excluding gasoline stations rose 0.2%. The bureau revised August's monthly increase from 1.1% to 1.3%. The figures adjust for seasonal, holiday and trading-day differences, but do not adjust for price changes.
