Katie Zacharia Leaves White House Press Secretary Role After Five Days

Katie Zacharia is leaving her position as White House press secretary after five days on the job, with a senior administration official describing her as “transitioning out” on Friday, October 16. President Donald Trump told reporters outside the White House that he had discussed the job with her and said she did not have to continue and should reconsider. He also criticized the media’s treatment of her. Zacharia began work on Monday, October 12, succeeding Karoline Leavitt, and held her first briefing the following day.
