Meerut Court Sentences Ravita and Amardeep to Death for Amit Kashyap’s Murder

A court in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, sentenced Ravita and Amardeep to death on October 16 for murdering Ravita’s husband, Amit Kashyap. The pair had been convicted on October 7 and appeared for the sentencing proceedings through video conferencing. According to the prosecution, they strangled Amit at his home in Akbarpur Sadat village, in Meerut’s Bahsuma area, in April 2025 and placed a snake beside his body to make his death appear to be a snakebite. A postmortem examination established that he had died of strangulation rather than a snakebite.

Difference in reporting

Sources factually disagree on the witness count: Jagran reports 12 witnesses; Free Press Journal reports more than 12. The reports agree on the death sentences, the defendants and victim, the October 7 conviction, and the attempt to disguise strangulation as a snakebite.
