São Paulo Issues Flood Alert After Creek Overflows in Santo Amaro

São Paulo’s municipal emergency management center, CGE, placed Santo Amaro under a flood alert at 02:59 local time on Friday after Águas Espraiadas creek overflowed at Rua Jorge Duprat, near number 15. The city’s other districts and the Marginal Tietê and Marginal Pinheiros highways remained under a flooding watch issued at 01:47. CGE reported moderate to heavy rain associated with a cold front and warned of possible wind gusts and lightning. Its forecast called for widespread Friday rain, with saturated ground increasing the risk of flooding and landslides across Greater São Paulo.
