Lecornu Says 1,200 Detained and 150 Police Injured After France Protests

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said 1,200 people had been detained and 150 police officers injured during Saturday's protests across France. He announced the tally while visiting officers deployed in central Paris after a day marked by clashes and looting. He said it was fortunate that the toll was not worse and called for support for the Republic against rioters. The nationwide mobilization against high living costs included former Yellow Vests, secondary-school and university students, climate activists and farmers, with blockades and demonstrations.
