Mexico Extends Tropical Storm Warning to Punta Mita as Hurricane Trudy Nears Coast

Mexico extended a tropical storm warning north of Cabo Corrientes to Punta Mita on October 17 as Hurricane Trudy approached its Pacific coast. At 12:00 UTC, the storm had sustained winds of 90 mph and was about 305 km south-southeast of Manzanillo, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. A hurricane warning remained in force from Manzanillo northward to Cabo Corrientes, with hurricane conditions expected Saturday night. Forecasters warned that weekend rainfall could reach 4–8 inches, with isolated totals around 15 inches, in coastal Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco, creating risks of life-threatening flooding and mudslides.
