Fuchs Describes Shabbat Dilemmas and Religious Observance Around Netanyahu
Published
Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs described balancing Shabbat observance with wartime government work at the Tzomet and Makor Rishon conference on Sunday. Recalling early-war Shabbats at the Kirya, he distinguished lifesaving duties from other tasks and described difficulties with electrically controlled doors when leaving to pray. Fuchs said a prayer quorum was initially unavailable around Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but that later most senior personnel around him were religiously observant. He also recounted prayers for soldiers before major operations and said he encouraged Netanyahu to refer to divine assistance in speeches.
