Kaplan Medical Center Reports Suspected Consent Failures in Cardiology Research

Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot disclosed concerns that blood samples had been collected for a laboratory study in its cardiology division without patients' informed consent. Hospital management said preliminary findings led it to file a police complaint last week and notify the Health Ministry. The hospital said cardiology services continue and provided a dedicated patient inquiry line at 08-9440245. It did not disclose the study's subject, when it took place, how many patients were involved or who was responsible.
