Nigeria Loses 2-1 to Poland in U17 Women's World Cup Opener

Nigeria lost 2-1 to Poland in its opening FIFA U17 Women's World Cup match in Rabat on October 17. Wiktoria Skrzypczak put Poland ahead with a 33rd-minute penalty awarded after a Video Support review. Natalia Skrok doubled the lead in the 65th minute after a poor Nigerian clearance, before Nigeria pulled a goal back in the 79th. Poland held on for all three points despite a late Nigerian penalty appeal, with another review upholding the referee's decision. Nigeria next faces Puerto Rico on October 20 and Korea DPR on October 23 in Group B.
