SENAPRED Revises Portillo Avalanche Toll to Three Dead and Four Injured

Chile's disaster agency SENAPRED revised the toll from an avalanche near Portillo to three dead and four injured after rescue teams consolidated their findings, replacing an earlier count of four deaths. The accident occurred in the southern sector of Laguna del Inca, in Los Andes commune. The agency said two bodies had been recovered and taken to the forensic service, while teams continued working to recover the third person's body from the lake. Ski Portillo separately confirmed three deaths and four people rescued, saying the accident occurred outside the enabled skiing area.
