Trump Says He Is Open to Meeting Xi and Putin in China for Nuclear Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump said on October 19 that he was willing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in China next month to discuss nuclear weapons and disarmament. Speaking outside the White House before leaving for Kansas, Trump said the talks would focus on nuclear weapons and denuclearization. Asked whether Ukraine would also be discussed, he said he would do whatever he could to end the war. No summit has been confirmed; asked earlier about reports of a proposed three-leader meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said she had no information to share.
