U.S. Raises Kenya Travel Advisory to Level 3 Amid Ebola Alerts

The U.S. State Department raised its Kenya travel advisory from Level 2, “Exercise Increased Caution,” to Level 3, “Reconsider Travel,” on October 19. Its official travel account directed Americans to review the full advisory. Separately, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists a Level 1 health notice for Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease in Kenya. The CDC says Kenyan health authorities confirmed an imported case and related infections in Nairobi, and are tracing contacts to assess further transmission. Its notice recommends usual precautions, including avoiding contact with symptomatic people and their bodily fluids.
