Chief Rabbinate Approves 82 Slaughter and Meat-Inspection Professionals
Published
The Chief Rabbinate says it has approved 82 professionals following practical examinations and training: 31 slaughterers and knife examiners, 20 internal inspectors, 20 external inspectors and 11 team leaders. Separately, 346 candidates took theoretical examinations across slaughter, inspection, kosher-meat preparation and team leadership. The Rabbinate expects the expanded workforce to make overseas kosher-slaughter missions easier to staff and reduce operating costs, with potential savings for consumers. Acting director-general Yehuda Avidan said professional training and certification would continue; the announcement did not establish that retail meat prices had fallen.
