Nigeria Confirms Ebola Case in Capital Territory and Identifies 44 Contacts

Nigeria confirmed an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory after laboratory confirmation on October 20, involving a woman who recently arrived on an international flight from Uganda. She had received care for several days at a private hospital before diagnosis and is now isolated and receiving medical care. Health teams identified 44 close contacts and are tracing and monitoring potentially exposed healthcare workers, patients, caregivers and travel contacts. Federal authorities, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and the territory's health secretariat are coordinating containment, while public and private health facilities nationwide have been asked to remain on alert.
