Ogun Police Announce Rescue of 11 Ghanaians Held in Alleged Visa Scam

Ogun State police announced on Tuesday that they had rescued 11 Ghanaian nationals, seven men and four women, in Sagamu, Nigeria. Spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi said the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation after receiving intelligence on October 19. Preliminary investigations allege that a fellow Ghanaian promised Canadian and Spanish visas before bringing them to Nigeria and holding them against their will; each reportedly paid 40,000 Ghanaian cedis. Police said the rescued people were receiving care and support while detectives worked to identify, locate and arrest those connected with the alleged network.
