Rubio Urges More U.S. Energy Trade in Mumbai Talks With Jaishankar

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Mumbai on October 20 to discuss regional and global issues, including developments in the Middle East. Rubio said increased energy trade with the United States could help diversify India’s supply chains while meeting its substantial consumer demand. He commended recent progress in bilateral defense and civil nuclear cooperation. Rubio also advocated increased purchases of U.S. technologies and systems, saying they could strengthen the security and prosperity of both countries.
