UK to Deploy RAF Typhoons to Defend Saudi Arabia From Houthi Attacks

The UK said RAF Typhoon fighters will fly defensive counter-air missions to protect Saudi cities and critical infrastructure from aerial attacks by the Houthis. The Ministry of Defence said the aircraft will not conduct offensive strikes against the group. An RAF A400M will transport defence materiel within Saudi Arabia, and British military advisers will support Saudi staff officers. The package also extends air-to-air refuelling for Saudi defensive operations, including against Houthi military targets in Yemen. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting approved the additional support on October 20, expanding existing British assistance that includes air-defence equipment against missiles and drones.
