AIPAC Announces End to Public Candidate Support and Direct PAC Contributions

AIPAC has told members that it will end public support for candidates in U.S. elections and stop direct contributions through its political action committee. The organization said the change followed a strategic review of its political activity. It plans to encourage individuals to donate directly to candidates without AIPAC’s official designation. The change comes as donations associated with the pro-Israel group have become a political liability for some candidates, drawing activist pressure and refusals from Democratic lawmakers.
