Africa CDC Chief Says Nigeria’s Ebola Patient Had Not Travelled Through DR Congo
Published
Africa CDC Director General Jean Kaseya said on 22 October that the Ebola patient diagnosed in Nigeria had not previously travelled through DR Congo. He said the diagnosis came 16 days after the patient arrived in Nigeria, leaving many potential contacts. Uganda’s health ministry had said on 20 October that the patient travelled to eastern DR Congo on business before transiting Uganda in early October without symptoms. That statement said transit did not establish where infection occurred and the exposure location remained under investigation. Uganda reported no confirmed active Ebola cases when it issued that statement.
