UK to Assess Local Investment Projects Together in Green Book Reforms

The UK government announced plans on October 22 to change the Treasury's Green Book so housing, transport and other local investments can be assessed together rather than separately. Updated guidance would help local and strategic authorities build place-based business cases that reflect how projects jointly address an area's economic barriers. Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the reforms alongside a meeting with English mayors at No10 North, which will also support areas without elected mayors in developing business cases. The government said a fuller reform package would be set out in next week's Budget.
