Argentina Says First Quantum Plans Year-End RIGI Filing for Taca Taca

Argentina’s Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno said on October 23 that First Quantum plans to apply before year-end for the country’s RIGI large-investment incentive regime for its Taca Taca copper project. Quirno received CEO Tristan Pascall, chairman Kevin McArthur and board members, who were due to visit the site in Salta province that afternoon. He outlined an initial investment of US$4.2 billion, potentially rising to US$5.25 billion, and projected up to 4,000 construction jobs and 2,000 operating jobs. The proposed development lies in the Puna highlands of northwestern Argentina.
