Air Marshal Tony Davies resigned as Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force on October 23, informing Defence Minister Paul Goldsmith of his decision. Davies acknowledged an inappropriate relationship while holding unit command and said he regretted failing to disclose it when he had the opportunity. He described past personal errors as inconsistent with Defence Force values.
