Hurricane Vance Weakens to 105 Mph as Mexico Faces Flood Risk

Hurricane Vance weakened to maximum sustained winds of 105 mph at 15:00 UTC on October 24, while centered about 345 miles southwest of Acapulco, Mexico. The National Hurricane Center forecast gradual weakening through Sunday, with some renewed strengthening possible Sunday night or Monday. It forecast 3 to 6 inches of rain, with isolated totals around 10 inches, across Colima and western Michoacán and Jalisco through Thursday. The agency warned of potentially life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in steep terrain. No coastal watches or warnings were in effect, but a tropical-storm watch might be needed later Saturday or that night.
