Kim Jong Un Urges Stronger Army Companies at Pyongyang Meeting

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for stronger combat capabilities and ideological discipline in army companies at a commanders' meeting in Pyongyang on October 22–23. Accounts of his speech released on October 24 described company-level strengthening as central to his drive to build stronger armed forces. He urged military-technical preparation and improved combat readiness at the Third Meeting of Company Leaders of the Korean People's Army. The gathering was the first army-wide meeting after the ruling Workers' Party's Ninth Congress.
