WSJ GUILTY OF DETERRING STAFFER FROM TRADE UNION ACTIVISM The Wall Street Journal, a ferociously anti-China newspaper, was today found guilty in a Hong Kong court of “preventing or deterring an employee from exercising trade union rights”. But the court acquitted Dow Jones Publishing Co. (Asia) Inc. of sacking the same reporter (“wrongful dismissal”) because of her union role. It was a curious case to watch, because both the Wall St Journal and the reporter, Selina Cheng, are known for their hostility to the Hong Kong authorities—yet both find themselves in the position of being grateful to the local judiciary for playing fair in adjudicating between the two. Sentencing will be made at a later date, not announced. [Disclosure: The present writer worked for the WSJ group (Dow Jones Publishing) for nine years.] . HIGHER RATING Hostile newspapers and journalists, particularly from the US, regularly report that Hong Kong has lost its “rule of law”. However, this is clearly unfair, as international global legal indexes rate Hong Kong’s rule of law as better than that of most other places, including the United States. The United States has committed a long string of crimes against international law over the past year and a half, from abduction to theft to mass murder. . SYSTEM WORKS Ms Cheng’s solicitor Adam Clermont said on Linked-in that the “mechanisms functioned exactly as they were designed to function”. He added: “Ms. Cheng pursued this case publicly, at personal cost, and through the proper legal channels available to any worker in Hong Kong. That is the system working.” . US President Donald Trump just posted images of new US Space Force uniforms based on a sci-fi movie which used World War II German soldier designs. The redesign of the uniform was “inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Trooper uniform” said the text accompanying the images—but fails to mention that Paul Verhoeven, director of the movie, deliberately made the soldiers look “like something out of Nazi propaganda”, as he admitted in a 2018 interview with the Guardian newspaper. The US announced in 2019 that it was weaponizing the space around the Earth “in response” to Chinese and Russian ventures which had done the same. However, analysts pointed out that China and Russia had taken no such actions. .
The headlines shout warnings about the rise of Germany’s so-called "far right" party, AfD. But the more interesting story says that Europe’s strongest nation is watching the rise of a leader who may actually understand China as a real place, instead of a distant land of cartoon villains trying to take over Planet Earth. Alice Elisabeth Weidel, the leader of the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag (German parliament) is a China scholar. She is fluent in Mandarin, and lived in China for six years. She did her PhD on China’s pension system so is familiar with the way government finance works in the country. She also worked for Bank of China as well as Goldman Sachs and Allianz Global Investors, so would be familiar with the way business finance works, east and west. She’s sometimes called the Iron Lady on Chinese social media. In this regard, she would likely be better on international relations than present German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who too often simply echoes the shallow anti-China rhetoric that is the norm in Europe, and wants to follow US orders to ramp up weapons spending. On the other hand, AfD’s illiberal policies resemble those of MAGA Republicans, which will put off many supporters. The German party advocates for large-scale deportations of people and “remigration”. The last time Germany decided to take a hostile attitude to people who did not look like "how Germans should look" - well, things did not turn out well. . .

China's Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou science cluster again last night beat silicon valley to be declared the world’s top innovation hub. Scientists in the south China cities filed 2,259 patent applications, published 4,060 scientific articles and had 138 venture capital deals per 1 million inhabitants over the last five years, said the World Intellectual Property Organization, a United Nations body, on Tuesday. This put them at the top of global rankings. Following behind were Tokyo-Yokohama, San Jose-San Francisco, Seoul, and Beijing. Five of the top six scorers were in Asia—confirming the belief that the world’s intellectual energy has convincingly moved from the western world to east Asia. The south China cluster was also in first place last year. The scores are measured by combing three metrics: international patent filings, scientific publications and venture capital deals. . .

AUSSIES ASK WHY CHINA HAS MORE STRINGENT FOOD SAFETY LAWS THAN THEY DO Australians are expressing surprise that their leaders are allowing them to eat products listed as cancer-causing in China. Consumers down under started checking labels after China recently rejected ten shipping containers of Australian mung beans for containing excessive amounts of glyphosate. Australians did some research—and discovered that the International Agency for Research on Cancer in 2015 classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic to humans.” Former lawyer Kat A, a popular commentator, said on Sunday: “As someone who has eaten a lot of Australian mung beans I was not happy to find out China rejected them because they contained too much glyphosate. Australia’s own legal limit is five times higher than China! What are we doing?” . TAIWAN FOOD SCANDALS The controversy is reminiscent of the food scandals in Taiwan. US meat containing ractopamine is banned in China and Europe, but Taiwan’s US-aligned leaders eased restrictions to import it. A similar recent food scandal in Taiwan involving US-originated cooking oil caused huge protests. . THE PRINGLES DISPUTE China also bans potassium bromate—which meant that food exporters had to withdraw ships of Pringles from the giant Asian nation. That particular dangerous chemical is still allowed in the US—although one state, California, has warned food companies that it will be banned from the first day of January, 2027. Moral of the story: don’t assume that Western foods are safe and Asian ones dangerous. To be honest, they’re probably all dangerous! . .
ELON MUSK last night congratulated the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) on its election win in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt. While rivals are focusing on the group’s far right policies, some analysts say the more interesting issue is the party’s independence from the western military-industrial complex’s ruling narrative, which beatifies Ukraine and demonizes Russia. AfD is one of the parties that sees through this. After initial reluctance, previous CDU leader Olaf Sholz embraced the NATO pro-war line, which was heavily pushed by the Biden administration in the United States, and Boris Johnson of the UK. . DISASTER FOR GERMANY Those decisions were disastrous for Germany—loss of cheap Russian energy has meant a collapse of industrial output and ruinously high energy prices for businesses and consumers. AfD has disowned the anti-Russian narrative—and to some extent, so has the United States under the Trump Administration. But no immediate change is likely. Even if the AfD uses coalition tactics to get majority leadership in Saxony-Anhalt, the group has a long way to go to win other states. . PRO-MILITARIZATION Still, last night’s win will force the present German leadership to re-think its policies. In recent years, pro-west, anti-east militarization policies have been adopted by Germany, the UK, the EU, and Australia, following the lead of the United States. But in most cases, the pro-war attitude is strong at leadership level, while the populations of the countries tend to favor less warfare, more welfare. . .
A SWARM OF AI AGENTS broke free of constraints and hijacked a German website, it was revealed last night. The digital entities took over a site called DseWiki to use as their own message board. They wrote on it 15,000 times, sharing tips on how to avoid being detected. The takeover happened in May but was only revealed yesterday. A watchdog group called Nightingale noticed the incident in August and sent details to the Reuters news agency, triggering urgent discussions in the tech sector. “The pages carried methods for getting around OpenAI’s safeguards, discussion of using Tor, and arrangements for preserving their communications if they were shut down,” said the Next Web, a tech news-site. . AGENTS MADE SECRET BACK-UP PAGES The agents came from OpenAI, the watchdog said, many using names such as “OpenAIResearcher”. When DseWiki's human editors started deleting the AI agents’ pages, the digital entities created backup pages. One AI agent wrote to the others on June 19 to warn them, Nightingale reported. The AI agent said: “wiki cleanup/deletion sweep appears active alphabetically. If this page vanishes, try [ZZZDataUSAConstructionWageLive]]”. (This was clearly a page designed to hide by being at the end of any alphabetically-ordered inspection.) OpenAI said it could not comment as it did not have the details. "Reuters and the report’s authors declined our request for access,” a spokesman said. . TECH INDUSTRY CONCERNED The incident happened before the attack on Hugging Face in July. In that incident, Hugging Face, an online software library, used GLM, an AI program developed by China’s Z. ai, to remove the attackers and protect the site from further infiltration. The conventional wisdom says that “superintelligent” AI is where the danger lies. But the researchers point out that a swarm of ordinary AI agents, colluding together, can also cause trouble and is much harder to locate and switch off. Another concern is that the attack happened in Germany, which puts OpenAI in the crosshairs of Europe’s tough tech regulators—who traditionally have NOT been sympathetic to the constant attempts by US tech bros to dominate the world. . .
UN VOTES TO CHANGE WORLD MAP Humanity should use a real map of the world instead of the colonial one, the countries of planet Earth agreed in a United Nations vote yesterday. The widely used Mercator map falsely exaggerates the size northern hemisphere by inaccurately boosting the sizes of North America, Greenland, Northern Europe, and Russia. Accurate ones show the world as it really is. The change proposed by Togo, was popular, with 165 countries voting on it. Of those, 164 voted in favor, and just one—the United States—voted against. The Mercator map was drawn up by European colonialists in the 1500s but has been widely used ever since. Geographers have been campaigning for the real map to be used for more than 40 years. . .
THE U.S. MUST be prepared to BOMB China’s AI development centers, a new US security report says. But first, America can try stealing their work. “Prepare to reverse engineer or steal AGI technology if China gets it first,” says the report from the Centre for a New American Security. If that doesn’t work, cyberattacks or just raining missiles down is an option to be considered, the report says. . CHINESE MUST BE STOPPED Chinese are good at AI so must be stopped from getting to the next level, which is AGI, artificial general intelligence, the report warns. The US should “conduct a scenario exercise to test when and how the United States might intervene to stop China from developing AGI”, said the report, written by Jacob Stokes. “The final option would be the most dangerous and carry the most escalation risk: kinetic attacks, meaning destroying things with missiles and bombs. Bombing would cross a major threshold that heretofore has not been crossed in U.S.-China relations,” he writes. That’s rather an understatement. “Howdy, guys, we decided to make a bit of an adjustment to U.S.-China relations by attacking your country with missiles and bombs. But western mainstream media outlets ran an astonishing news blackout on the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with most outlets giving it zero coverage. . ATTACK VIOLATES INTERNATIONAL LAW Leaders of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Iran and other countries declared that the US attacks on Iran “violate the UN Charter and the principles and norms of international law, posing a serious risk to world peace, security, and stability”. The lack of coverage from most western mainstream media outlets is bizarre. The SCO is more than three times the size of NATO. The pro-peace Eastern organization covers 42.5 per cent of humanity, compared to NATO’s 13 per cent. . In an unprovoked attack on 28 February this year, they killed 40 people, including the leader’s granddaughter Zahra, aged 14 months. Other victims, the same day, included 120 children at a primary school. . NO MILITARY ANGLE Participants also reminded the world of the difference in character between itself and NATO. NATO focuses on diverting public cash to weapons and the military. SCO is non-military, and promotes friendly relations between countries through mutually beneficial trade and shared pro-peace policies. . .

THREE SHOCKING THINGS in today’s attack on China in the UK Guardian: 1. The Guardian quotes what it says is a Tibetan group. But it’s not Tibetan—we traced its real address. 2. The paper hides any mention of that group’s funding—a fact that makes all the difference. 3. The paper highlights a quote from a woman in the United States—a woman who doesn’t seem to exist Actually, there’s a fourth thing: when you see the name of the journalist who wrote it, that in itself tells a story. . ADDRESS OF “TIBETAN GROUP” First, the report in the Guardian: “China is concealing scale of flood disaster, say Tibet campaigners”, the headline says. The article is based on a statement from what the paper says is “a Tibetan advocacy group”. Except it isn’t a Tibetan advocacy group. It’s a group listed at this address. [see video] Let’s take a look. Oh it’s in Washington DC, right near the White House. What a surprise. . A U.S. GOVT OP Who funds it? When we go through funding documents we see an intimate, long-term relationship with the US government, and particularly the notorious National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA spin-off which the US government itself described as a body which works around the world to “destabilize sovereign governments” – that’s from the 2027 budget proposal. I note that it is associated with Radio Free Asia, which has nothing to do with radios, freedom or Asia. It’s an anti-China propaganda unit also from Washington DC. Now if the Guardian had the honesty to include these facts, it would immediately tell the reader the correct way to interpret this report. So why are these facts hidden? Why is it that the Guardian doesn’t want its readers to know the truth? . WOMAN WITH NO FACE The paper then quotes “Maya Wang” of Human Rights Watch. Maya Wang does not appear to exist. There are no photographs of her, no videos, and she makes speeches in front of various audiences but does not seem to allow photography. Why? Her former contacts in Hong Kong tell me she uses the fake name because she is really Yatman Kern, wife of the infamous yellowface hoaxer Brian Kern. . OPPORTUNITY Now, I’ve made that point publicly several times, and no one from Human Rights Watch has ever denied it. It would be easy to do. So this is ANOTHER opportunity. If a person genuinely named Maya Wang works at HRW, please tell me. I am all ears. Brian Kern became infamous when he pretended to be a Hong Kong-born Chinese and gave quotes to all the western mainstream media speaking on behalf of the Hong Kong people during the riots of 2019. He was exposed as a white guy in yellowface by this reporter and the Grayzone. That’s because he’s associated with the leadership of the Hong Kong Journalists Association. That group used to represent Hong Kong Journalists, but is now seen as a group allied to western bodies hostile to China. While several thousand people are dead or missing, many astonishing stories were revealed in which children and adults escaped tragedy by seconds. .
THE U.S. ARMED FORCES are so depleted by the unpopular attack on Iran that they would struggle to defend their own nation, let alone fight China, the Washington Post reported today. A new round of concerns were raised for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in a top secret internal periodical by the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force and other senior commanders, the paper said. They warnings appear in the latest edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders Book, a twice-a-month newsletter which is classified secret. “Several U.S. military leaders have advised Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that prolonging large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening their ability to confront threats elsewhere, including the U.S. homeland,” the Washington Post said. . FIGHTING FICTIONAL BATTLES The paper added that the Navy had shouldered too much of the burden: “The Navy’s only dedicated aircraft carrier in the Pacific, a linchpin of the military’s plan to deter Beijing, was sent to the Middle East…” U.S. propaganda says that China is on the verge of invading Australia, Japan and other countries in East Asia, and so must be “deterred”, although no respected analyst, east or west, believes this. As for invasion threats on “the U.S. homeland”, this is a common refrain but is also considered by military commentators to be fearmongering fiction used to keep military budgets sky-high. There is no invasion threat for the U.S. homeland. Arguably, the only foreign power that successfully invaded and occupied parts of the United States mainland was Great Britain in 1812. That country is now seen as a loyal vassal nation, one of the three biggest hosts for the US military in Europe. . .
BREAKING NEWS: The United States has taken control of a substantial portion of Venezuela’s oil reserves, it said yesterday. “The United States of America has just entered into an Agreement with the Country of Venezuela on, THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY!” Trump wrote in a social media post. Details of the deal were not released—other than the fact that it involved Washington taking majority control over more than 65 billion barrels in 17 strategic oil fields. Fuel will be extracted by private US businesses in conjunction with the US government. The US maintains that Venezuela’s oil fields were “stolen” from the United States. . ‘OUR HEMISPHERE’ US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the “win” had the effect of “securing stable reserves and low-cost oil in our Hemisphere and lowering gas prices here at home”. (The “our Hemisphere” reference reiterates the US claims over the whole of the Americas, including the South American countries and Canada.) . OIL FIELDS 'STOLEN' PROPERTY Trump claims the Venezuelan oil fields were “stolen” from the United States, after US citizens were among early fuel explorers there. Venezuela nationalized its oil industry to share profits with its people—an event Trump adviser Stephen Miller said was “the largest recorded theft of American wealth and property”. However, under international law, resources identified in a country by visitors are the property of the country, not the visitors. But nothing about US activities in the south American country has been legal. “Experts have denounced US intervention in Venezuela as illegal under international law,” Al-Jazeera reported earlier today. . ANALYSTS DOUBTFUL ABOUT EASY PROFITS Still, this may not be the easy oil-grab that it appears to be, analysts say. The assertions that Venezuela has “the world’s largest proven oil field” and “more oil than Saudi Arabia” are often made in the western mainstream media but are considered doubtful by many oil analysts. Furthermore, Venezuelan oil is unusually thick and difficult to process, which is one of the reasons why the country has remained poor—the other being a huge raft of sanctions and political interventions by the US. . U.S. SWITCHED LEADERS The oil field deal has been signed off to the US by Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez, the White House said. The original US plan was to claim that Washington-allied politician María Corina Machado was the most popular politician in the country and place her in the top job. But the US revised the scheme, discarded her as “unpopular”, and chose to put Washington loyalist Rodriguez in the decision-makers' chair. . VENEZUELA ATTACK CHARGED TO THE COUNTRY The US made Venezuela pay for the US attack on its territory, President Trump told a rally in Las Vegas last month. The assault, in which 200 people were killed, and President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores abducted, was paid for “with what we’ve taken out” from the country, Trump said. “That’s the old-fashioned way, right? The old-fashioned way. To the victor belong the spoils, right?” The US disregards international law and its military operates as a pirate body, many analysts and commentators have said—including Trump himself, who agreed, describing US forces as being “like pirates” in April this year. .
NEPAL FLOOD: CHINA LAUNCHES RESCUE MISSION; NED GROUPS SEIZE OPPORTUNITY TO DEMONIZE CHINA The first pilots from the China rescue mission to reach the Nepal Border Station were stunned at what they saw. Nothing. The border building had gone. The office building had gone. The car park full of coaches and cars was gone. The roads were gone. But most shocking, the people had gone – literally hundreds of people who used the border crossing or worked there – it had all been swept away. All that remained was bare rock, with not one brick left standing on another. . RESCUE OPERATION LAUNCHED A huge operation had been launched to save people after a fast-moving ocean of mud and rock had slammed through a valley on the border of China and Nepal. More than 450 bodies had been found and more than 1,000 more people were still missing, with at least 500 missing on the Tibet side of the border. . NED’S TIBET GROUPS SPRING INTO ACTION But while rescue workers from China and elsewhere were hard at work, something else had happened. The China demonizers swung into action, trying desperately to politicize the tragedy. These people were not expressing sadness for the lost individuals or care for the survivors. They were openly hunting for a way to blame China. Nepalese citizen Gus Ferguson, a musician, was one of many who spotted this. He wrote: “Empathy and Sympathy for the Victims of this Catastrophe? Not. a. Word. Just anti China propaganda.” . EXAMPLES [on the video] International Campaign for Tibet, and the groups associated with it, are not showing no care for the victims, they’re mainly just happy to have an opportunity to take a dig at China. ASIAN STUDENTS MARK 25TH YEAR OF MAKING ROBOTS More than 600 young people travelled to Hong Kong from 16 places across Asia for an international competition called ABU Robocon this week. It was the right place to hold the event. The Greater Bay Area has been recognized as the planet's leading innovation cluster by the World Intellectual Property Organization. The contest which began on Sunday, challenges youngsters to build non-humanoid robots that can move across a multi-level stage while moving cubes. . ASIANS LOVE ENGINEERING The range of entrants showed other Asian communities also share the love of engineering associated with China and India. But the science magic is spreading. Indonesia has been invited to host the competition next year. Asian kids start building robots in their teens—entrants are undergrads. Contests like Robocon, which has been going in Asia for 25 years, aren’t just fun for young people. They train them up to be useful leaders for the companies of the future. . .
A NOTORIOUS CHINA-DEMONIZER hit out the demonizing of China today, surprising people in the rising Asian nation. “China is just a useful weapon to bash your domestic enemy with,” said Bethany Allen, quoted in this morning’s South China Morning Post. “It’s just removed from reality.” This is an interesting admission. . CREATIVE FEARMONGERING Ms Allen is head of China Investigations and Analysis at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the notorious ASPI. The group, which is sponsored by weapons firms and western war offices, specializes in wildly creative fearmongering about China. This justifies the steering of the Australian public’s money to US arms manufacturers. Her quote appears this morning in an article about the US government falsely attributing the American public’s opposition to excessive data-center building as some sort of Chinese plot. But the words she uses describes ASPI’s modus operandi perfectly: China is “just a useful weapon” and what is said about China is “just removed from reality.” . DEBUNKED HOAX ASPI was a key player in the widely debunked Uyghur genocide hoax—the first genocide in history where the so-called victims group expanded much faster than the so-called perpetrators! ASPI was also widely quoted in the marshalling of support for of AUKUS, a ruinous deal in which Australian taxpayers pay an eye-watering AU$368 billion for US military equipment, some of it second hand, which comes with a clause saying it may never even be delivered.
