Nepal Flash Flood Kills Eight as 55 Security and Customs Staff Lose Contact

A flash flood that entered Nepal's Rasuwa district from Tibet killed at least eight people, while the latest government figures reported by local outlets showed 41 security personnel and 14 customs employees remained out of contact. The surge reached Timure around 9 a.m. and damaged settlements, police posts, roads, bridges and power projects along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. Authorities mobilized helicopters and ground teams, though early rescue flights struggled to land. Officials had not confirmed the flood's cause, and the toll and missing-person figures changed as searches continued.

Difference in reporting

Sources factually disagree on the confirmed toll at their update times: Nepal News and Reuters report eight deaths or recovered bodies; The Kathmandu Post says authorities had not yet issued a confirmed casualty total. The remaining facts are uniform: the flood entered Rasuwa from Tibet, damaged settlements and infrastructure, and triggered rescue operations.
