Manchester Synagogue Attacker's Associate Jailed for UK Military Base Plot

Manchester Crown Court sentenced Mohammad Bashir, 31, to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years after he admitted preparing an act of terrorism. Prosecutors said Bashir drove Jihad Al-Shamie on a 10-hour trip to conduct hostile reconnaissance at the UK Defence Academy in Shrivenham, where they believed Israeli officers were studying. Police said the pair discussed violent jihad and made antisemitic remarks. Al-Shamie later murdered Melvin Cravitz during the 2025 Yom Kippur attack at Heaton Park Synagogue, while Adrian Daulby was killed by police gunfire as officers responded.
