Energy Ministry Model Warns EV Slump Could Cost Israel NIS 2.2 Billion in 2027

Israel's share of electric vehicles in new-car sales fell from 25% in 2024 to 20% in 2025 and 12% in the first half of 2026, according to an updated Energy Ministry demand model. The model estimates that delayed electrification could cost the economy NIS 600 million to NIS 2.2 billion in 2027, while meeting government goals could create about NIS 15 billion in cumulative benefits through 2030. Ministry proposals include charging-infrastructure legislation, apartment-building finance, long-term tax certainty and targeted fleet incentives. Ron Eifer said consistent, active policy is needed to restore higher adoption rates.
