The United Arab Emirates announced that all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran have been halted until further notice. Afra Al Hameli, director of the Strategic Communications Department at the Emirati Foreign Ministry, tied the step to regional escalations that undermine regional and international peace and security, and rejected allegations about the state of Abu Dhabi's economic relationship with Tehran. She said the UAE remains committed to dialogue and regional integration, and to safeguarding the integrity of the international financial system in line with international law. The statement set no end date and drew no distinction between goods, banking and re-exports.
