Ofer Winter Billboards Point to August 25 Launch of a New Right-Wing Party

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a campaign billboard in Israel: a wide dark digital billboard is mounted high on the pale stone facade of a city office building, carrying a single line of bright purple Hebrew campaign lettering above a very large purple date reading 25.08, thin purple rules running above and below the text, a slender support post rising to the panel at left, three Israeli flags on poles fluttering across the foreground below it, dark green cypress and pine foliage cro

Billboards went up on Wednesday morning reading “Soon you will have someone to vote for, August 25,” printed in the purple identified with the Givati Brigade. They point to a launch date for the new right-wing party of Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter, the brigade's former commander. Winter has held advanced talks with advocacy activist Yoseph Haddad, who is behind a request to register a party named Brave Israel, and with Leli Darei, a bereaved mother from Eli whose son Sa'adia fell in the Swords of Iron war. Winter's party bylaws place it in the right-wing bloc and rule out a government under Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot. His office responded, “Patience.”
