Katz Says IDF Won't Leave Lebanon Until Hezbollah Disarms

Israel Katz

Defense Minister Israel Katz told military correspondents that Israel has no territorial ambitions in Lebanon, but the IDF will not withdraw a millimeter until Hezbollah is disarmed. Reports in Hebrew and English also quote him saying Washington accepts that condition through the new military annex and that he coordinated the posture with CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper. Katz also warned that renewed fighting with Iran could come quickly and said the IDF is preparing an independent Israeli operation if needed. Jerusalem welcomes real Lebanese sovereignty, but only verified disarmament can make redeployment responsible.
