IDF to Probe Female Soldiers Moved During Netanyahu Visit
Israeli reports say the IDF will investigate after female Artillery Corps soldiers in southern Lebanon were moved from a position during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit with Defense Minister Israel Katz so Haredi soldiers from the Hasmonean Brigade would not encounter them. Ynet, Kikar and Ch10, citing Kan's report and the mother of one soldier, say the women had helped prepare and fortify the site, were sent to another house or downstairs for about four hours, and were kept away before Netanyahu met the Haredi troops. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said the gathering was not properly planned for the conditions at a brigade commander's house in enemy territory and would be investigated. Israel needs both goals: serious Haredi enlistment that respects Torah-observant soldiers, and full dignity for women already serving on a dangerous northern front.
