India-Israel Investment Pact Takes Effect
India's Finance Ministry announced July 4, and Economic Times published at 08:56 IDT, that the India-Israel Bilateral Investment Agreement has entered into force. The agreement, signed in New Delhi on September 8, 2025 by Nirmala Sitharaman and Bezalel Smotrich, gives investors stronger protections, clearer dispute arbitration and safeguards against expropriation while preserving sovereign policy space. Official Indian statements say it should increase cross-border investment and deepen the economic partnership, while FTA talks are also underway. For Israel, the pact anchors a practical alliance with a major Asian power across finance, infrastructure, high technology and strategic trade.
